Why Your Associate Isn’t Solving Your Problems
Every dentist dreams of the day they can hire an associate and finally get their time back. Someone else handles the dentistry while you focus on the business or maybe even take a few Fridays off.
But for most owners, it doesn’t go that way. They add an associate, and profits actually dip. The reason is simple. If your systems are leaky, adding more doctors just multiplies the problems that already exist.
Before you bring on an associate, make sure:
-
You have enough demand, at least 35 new patients per doctor.
-
Your systems are documented and consistent.
-
You have scheduling templates that ensure a minimum dollar-per-hour goal.
-
You are ready to mentor and track their profitability.
Associates can absolutely unlock freedom, but only if the practice is ready for them. Otherwise, they will drain you instead of freeing you.
In our latest episode, I share the real steps that turn the “associate illusion” into true freedom and how to structure things so your next hire adds profit instead of problems.
